Musical Recital

We have had a music professor visiting us for the month of January.  She did many music lessons and the kids were able to show what they learned on Thursday.

Our electricity has been crazy lately!  The power was off during the first program at 2pm.  At the night recital, some of the numbers were done by flash light!

Allie had a solo singing in the afternoon and evening recitals.

Emma sang in the group, played the recorder and had a recorder solo.

Olivia enjoyed singing in in the group and learning how to sing in rounds.

The birthday party

3:30, off we go to the Wara Kanya.  Despite the drizzle, we were optimistic.  New Years Day, we had tried a new swimming hole and loved it.  Allie decided she wanted to have her party there.IMG_4021 1/2 of the group floated down the river, under the bridge and through some new rapids.  As the groups rejoined, it was raining pretty steady.  The kids (and some grown ups) took turns jumping from the rocks to the water.  It wasn’t too long, until those of us wanting to stay dry were soaked and we started home.  IMG_4024 IMG_4030 IMG_4037 We sliced watermelon and spit the seeds at each other on the way home.IMG_4039 IMG_4050

Dried off, changed, hot cocoa, “the bag game”, cake, gifts, and a round of Apples to Apples rounded out the party.

Get-Away at Ron Don Ridge!

The McCoy’s watched the kids, and after several  false starts, leaving 1 hour late, off we were.

I forgot to take pictures of our room, it was great.  Very relaxing and rejuvenating.

Sweet 13!

Christmas Break

Since, I live in Papua New Guinea, I can actually call it “Christmas Break”.IMG_3962 The girls and Scott played on the DS games a lot.  I didn’t have much sympathy for their poor, painful thumbs!

Allison read Inkheart in 2 days.

Em and Liv continued with their school work, so we can take a few days off in Jan.

I just love watching Liv sound out words!

Later Christmas presents

Our plan was a tree house for the girls, for Christmas.  But I wasn’t my usual optimistic self, and I thought Scott would not get it completed.  So I ordered presents on line.  I have them mailed to mom and she mails them on.  Except our volunteer friends asked what they could bring us, and I took advantage of that offer, had mom mail the presents to them, and we got them on the 28th.  Pretty good!IMG_3955 IMG_3956 IMG_3957 IMG_3960

But there was a Christmas miracle at our house and the tree house was completed at dusk on Christmas eve.  Scott calls all of the people coming and helping a miracle!

Christmas Night

What a fun night of food and fellowship with the McCoy’s and Radcliffe’s.IMG_3942 IMG_3943 IMG_3948 IMG_3954
