Saturday

What fills a Saturday? I had plans and then changed those for other plans, which then fell through, so I was filled with a whole free day.
The girls and I watched some recorded shows in the morning. Went to the market at noon, just to get out and have some ice cream. Looked through second hand clothes and produce for sale at the market.
Then home. Scott was on call so he was busy all morning, home most of the afternoon, and up all night.
Becky came over and she got started on her quilt. Don't you love the colors?
I pulled out the sewing machine and finished 5 pillows, made one pillow case, and 3 little puppy blanket covers. As you can see, Copper loves his. I think his brothers like theirs too.
It was a pretty good Saturday!

Feeling loved!

It may be superficial, but we love boxes!
We love the things inside, but more than than, it encourages our hearts so much to know we are not forgotten.
We are far away from our roots, and some days the miles see farther. Boxes are filled with love and prayers and strengthen us so much!
Thanks bible study girls (we should have a name!) from Springfield! Thanks for loving us.

Look at those eyes!

Our lives have been in a bit of a turmoil since getting our puppy. There was massive confusion in our acquiring the puppy. The owner said "free" we thought that meant "no cost", he meant "available". All of our interaction has been via email as he is not in PNG any longer. So we didn't know if we could keep the puppy, or if we should and at the same time loving the little guy.
We have decided to keep him.

On another note...
There has definitely been some opposition here on the front lines of the mission field and we covet your prayers.

Preschool with Livy

C is for cape!

A is for Apple!

Coppertone!

And now we are six!!!

To add some balance to the male/female ration in our house, we added a boy puppy!

Coppertone and 2 of his brothers came to Kudjip Station on Monday! We are all quite excited, it is the first puppy for the girls. Copper's 2 brothers are at other missionary houses. There was a puppy play time today for the siblings and they had lots of fun!

New Stove

I have a story for you. Some people who have been Nazarene for their whole life, will know the story well.
As Nazarene missionaries, our salary and housing are paid by individuals paying into the general church. The individual's money goes to World Evangelism Fund.

We get deputation money when we go to local churches in the states, while we are on home assignment, and share our stories. The local church often takes up an offering and this money goes to our deputation account.

To use this money, we ask permission from our leaders. We got the approval to replace our old stove (above) with our new stove (below). Our old stove had multiple problems and we had been closing the oven door with a wire for the last 2 years.

So, this blog is to say thanks! For giving to us when we came to speak at your church! I was able to buy a new beautiful stove that accurately cooks and bakes our food!
Thanks for taking care of us, your missionary to PNG!

Fun things to see in Hagen

I have always thought this was amusing. A furniture store with coffins! In the other side of the store there are living room sets, beds and crib. So all of your furniture needs in one store!
These are coffins for sale along the side of the road. We do open caskets, so why do the little windows in the coffin seem so different? It always makes me smile.
Okay. Scott and I always enjoy things made somewhere else and marketed to English speakers, but obviously written by an English as a second language person.
This really made us laugh!
The box says "outdoor show with spike"
It is a shower that you stick in the ground and hook up to a hose.
We think that the box should say "outdoor shower with spike" But, when you get specific, it would be a show! Maybe they had it right after all!

Volunteers leaving!

We have had a full plate of volunteers lately and it is always sad to see them go!

Katie last Sunday, and Jessica on Saturday. (hope you made all of your flight Jess!)

I truly think the hardest thing about being a missionary is the goodbyes!

Safety first!

I have had trouble with blogging lately, but I am up and running again!

The other day, I looked out the girl's bedroom window and saw them up the guava tree! Em had taken safety into her own hands and fitted Olivia before the adventure!
