Flat Stanley continued..

It must have been all of that travel in an envelope with no holes because Flat Stanley was sick.  We took him up to Kudjip Nazarene Hospital where he got an x-ray,

IMG_5038admitted to the pediatric ward,

IMG_5042 met some new friends,IMG_5044 IMG_5049 IMG_5050 got better, and was ready to start his trip back to Kansas.  We sure had fun with Flat Stanley and hope he comes back soon to visit.

Flat Stanley visits us!

It only took Flat Stanley 20 days to travel to PNG in an envelope.  He started from Osawatomie, Kansas.IMG_5027 When he arrived, we showed him banana trees,

Pineapple bushes,

Guava treesIMG_5028 IMG_5033 And Lemon trees.IMG_5034

But then he wasn’t feeling well….

Winter, Spring, Summer and Faaaallll,

all you have to do is call!  My kindergartener learned about the 4 seasons today.  I thought that this was a lesson I should not breeze over, since we only have one season, spring, here in PNG.IMG_5009 IMG_5010 IMG_5011 IMG_5016

I think she already knew the seasons, but we had fun dressing up, taking pictures, writing the seasons, and drawing pictures of seasonal activities.

Things that made me smile

I was sick this weekend.  Sunday afternoon, some PNG girls came by and they all made mud pies together.  They looked good enough to eat!  It brightened up my day (when I finally ventured from the house!).

Spontaneous Lunch

Friday 12:20, arriving home from an errand, 3 friends are at our house.  They just stopped by to say “HI!” and share some of their garden food with us.  A knock at the door and 2 more friends arrive.

So we turned our 5 loaves and 2 fish into 10 PB and Jelly sandwiches, kaukau chips, cucumbers and oranges.  Finished off by twizzlers.  There wasn’t any think left over, and I think a few of us were still hungry, but it was a fun time.

We played with Nerf guns and watched Tom and Jerry, then our friends left about 2:30.  It was a fun-spontaneous- time!

Box from our friends

Our friends in Springfield, MO, cleaned out their toy box and sent us their “extra” toys.

My girls picked out one toy each to keep (I make them trade 3 for one), they picked out 3 new ones to share with new missionary kids coming to live at Kudjip, and shared the rest up at the hospital.IMG_4886 At our little Missionary Kid school, we have been learning about being loving to others.  To really take this point home, we shared toys and our loving words with sick kids at the hospital.IMG_4887 IMG_4889 IMG_4890 IMG_4893 IMG_4894 IMG_4898

Of course, the PNG kids (and parents) loved the gift!  It was fun to share!

Thanks Matt, Rachael, Anna and Alex!
