Scott and Gail scrub together

There was a c/section that needed to be done Monday. I was in the OR. Scott was going to do it. So I assisted. It was nice. I was very quiet during the case. I didn't notice it until my OR friends commented. We were both nervous about the baby that took his time before starting breathing and crying. Overall, it was a very nice time.

Waterfall!

While in Madang, our friends took us back on their properity to a fresh water spring. This spring went over a nice 20 foot rock base. So we would walk down the rock and then jump into the water. Mom watched everyone jumping for 30 minutes or so and then decided to jump too!
Now, if you don't know my mom, she loves water and to swim, but doesn't like to put her face under. So, it took a lot of courage for her to jump.
Scott jumped...Grammer waited...

And there she went! Yeah Grammer!

Middle age???

Scott and I both celebrated our 36th birthday this week! I am 6 days older and Scott makes fun of me for those six days! Then time catches up with him.
I suppose I should be having a mid life crisis or thinking about how old I am getting, but it hasn't happened yet.
Maybe it is because I was sick for those 24 months after Olivia was born, that I am just enjoying being alive and healthy and able to do what I want.
So, here is us on our birthdays, just celebrating, not worrying about getting older. Maybe I'll worry next year.

What a week!

I can't even begin to describe our wonderful week! It was fabulous from the first moment to the last. Sun, swimming, snorkeling, sweating, silliness, sweet eating out, sensational! Brave adventures, and relaxing reading. There were lots of bests of times!

Off to Madang!

When we went to Madang last August with Brittany and Sam, we drove....nine, long hours...twisty, bumpy roads....! Dad requested if we go to Madang, that we fly, so with just a couple miracles, we were off on Friday morning the 13th. It was a beautiful flight with MAF and their little caravan plane. We got to Madang, at the coast of PNG in just a 40 minute flight.

Mary Scrubs in!

Mom has been going up to surgery with me on Tuesdays and Thursdays and observing. She went up special for a jaw wiring and loved it. (she has been a dental assistant for 30 years). So when there was another oral case, she scrubbed in and assisted. She did great and I think it was fun for her!

7 mile hike.

Monday morning, 9:30, Mom and Dad and Olivia and I and Lena and Jonathan headed down the road. We went off station, turned right, right, and right again and walked for 3 hours. We had no plan of a destination. Just keep walking until Scott came to get us on his lunch hour. It was a great time, saw lots of people and beautiful sights.

How to cut the cheese...

First you buy the only Mozzarella that you can find in town. 22 lbs! For 275 Kina!
Next, you cut the whole thing in half and share half with a friend.
Then cut it into manageable pieces. Wait 3 days. Try to grate it with the food processor, which proceeds to not work, give up freeze it all in little Ziplocs.
Take out of the freezer and grate as needed. Enjoy! I'll let you know how long 5 pounds of cheese lasts a family of five.

Rock Slides/Kudjip Culture and Tourism Center

After getting wet in the river, it poured all the way home! Only Papa took an umbrella, and he shared it with Emma.
