Ninja, Tourist, and Pirate Day!

Easter Dinner

Finally, Tuesday night, I had time to cook all day for our “family” meal together.

Our new family was June, Pauline, Jessica and Jenny.  College of Nursing students we are “big sister” with.  It was our first time to get together.  We finished off the evening with Princess Bride.

Menu was Ham, Pumpkin casserole, asparagus, pineapple, rolls, and berry pie.  It was good!

Easter Egg Hunt

I took the cruiser, loaded up our friends at their houses, got a few extra, and took them to my house for a spur of the moment Egg Hunt.

We had wanted to do it on Sunday, but too busy.  Also, our priorities were on naps!  The girls helped me get the eggs ready.  Scott and Emma hid the eggs while I picked up the kids.

IMG_5239 IMG_5243 We talked about Resurrection Eggs and what Easter means, then hunted eggs and played.  IMG_5245 IMG_5246 IMG_5253

I am glad this worked out into our weekend! Lots of fun!

Easter Morning

He is Risen!

We read the Bible story where the 2 women went to Jesus's grave and were so surprised that Jesus had risen.  Then the girls got to go to the living room to see the surprise waiting them.IMG_5198 IMG_5201 IMG_5206 IMG_5209 IMG_5213

Em and Liv’s dresses are from last year!  So thankful they still fit.  Al and I were able to find t-shirts and skirts at the “PNG Mall” see previous blog.  But dressing up in new clothes for Easter is not a common practice here.

Scott was speaking at our favorite bush church on Sunday.  After being delayed with electrical/power issues, we were off.  It was a great service, followed by communion.

Cadbury eggs-deformed-homemade style

IMG_5085 IMG_5086 IMG_5087 IMG_5193

I have made these before, they turned out better…this time they were impossible! They never got firmer than the picture with the mixer.  Can you imagine dipping your hand in that and rolling it into a ball?   Ended up like fried eggs, but they were pretty yummy!

Sharing about purity

IMG_5169 IMG_5175 IMG_5177 We went to the conference to speak about dating, purity, and marriage.  IMG_5179

At the end of the service, we asked the students to come forward if they wanted to make a promise to God to stay sexually pure until marriage, about 350 people came forward.  I pray that this day will be remembered in these students lives and that God will give them strength to keep this promise.

Highlands Regional Tertiary Student Christian Fellowship Conference

Through God’s hand, we were able to organize a trip to go and speak at a student conference.  It was a 3 hour drive west and north.  Steph, Scott, Belinda (a nursing student) and myself headed off at 3pm on Friday.IMG_5141 IMG_5142 Smooth road and a beautiful day were part of our day until dark.  We don’t drive after dark in PNG because of safety.  As dusk fell, so did the rain.  Also steam from the hot highway was coming up to add to the difficulty of driving.  And the last 1 1/2 hours of driving was no longer a nice highway, but pot holes the size of cars, 2 feet deep and muddy!  The passengers often were bounced into the air!

Finally we arrived and went to the 3 hour evening service.  About 1000 people, mostly college age, were present.  The praise to our God on this Good Friday evening will forever be in my memory.  It was an amazing time!IMG_5161 IMG_5184 IMG_5187

Easter Eggs to the hospital

This was just a 2 hour party, but merits 3 blogs.  The kids took Easter eggs to the children in the hospital.IMG_5128 IMG_5129 IMG_5130 IMG_5134
